Oakhill

Oakhill, a Georgian-style house, is a beautiful Grade II Listed building built by the Arkwright family in
the mid-19 th Century for the Mill Manager with many original features remaining. It is now a family-
owned boutique hotel, in the heart of the Derwent Valley UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Oakhill offers visitors and guests a luxurious, yet relaxed, place to dine, drink and stay whilst
exploring the beautiful Peak District. Oakhill has 15 elegantly designed bedrooms, which include 2
family suites, offering peaceful and relaxing accommodation.

We serve breakfast, lunch, dinner and afternoon tea in our elegant dining room, overlooking our
beautiful garden. We pride ourselves on using locally sourced quality ingredients wherever possible.

The Malthouse

This is an outstanding conversion of Arkwright’s Grade II listed former corn mill, superbly located in the historic village of Cromford in Derbyshire.

Luxuriously appointed throughout, with beautiful wooden floors, beams and exposed stonework, this detached Cromford Mill cottage has been wonderfully converted to retain its original features, but also has a contemporary feel with its designer decor.

The Old Lockup

The Old Lockup is an ideal location for exploring the unique landscape of the Derbyshire countryside, walking or cycling the High Peak Trail, or enjoying the many watersports on offer at nearby Carsington Reservoir.

Sheriff Lodge, Dimple Road, Matlock

The B&B with 7 foot long beds! Kate, a former Nursing Sister (of 25 years standing), Alan, a former Fire Officer (of 29 years standing), bought Sheriff Lodge in 2001 and since then have worked hard to improve every aspect of the service, decor and little extras that have resulted in year on year improvements, to push this little slice of guesthouse luxury into Gold Award Territory, as awarded by the English Tourist Council. We have now moved away from the ratings system that is set out by the ETC and we’ve concentrated our efforts on gaining the best ratings that we can possibly get – reviews from our guests. Riverbank Guest House

Riverbank Guest House, a family-owned Matlock bed and breakfast, sits by the banks of the River Derwent close to the bridge. We are the only Matlock B&B to have a river frontage and our own parking within a quiet cul de sac. Our centrally-located guesthouse in Matlock is close to the bus and train station, and pubs and restaurants. We are a short drive from Bakewell, Chatsworth House & Haddon Hall. The Duke Of Wellington

This beautiful 19th Century former ‘Drovers Inn’ and ‘working farm’ now finds itself a cosy, traditional country inn set amongst two beautifully large beer gardens. Built in 1866, the ‘Duke’ has all the character and charm of a traditional country inn, built in Derbyshire limestone with slate roofs, roaring log fires and extensive gardens, our pub is well worth a visit.

Townhead Farmhouse

At first appearance Bonsall, near Matlock, is a small quiet village, and indeed at night your sleep will be disturbed by nothing more than the hoot of an owl or lowing of a cow. In the daytime however you will find a huge range of activities with lots of walking paths following the old lead mining routes. Wonderful cycling along the trails and visits to the local attractions of Cromford Mills, The Heights of Abraham, Gullivers Kingdom The Tramway Museum at Crich and the magnificent houses of Chatsworth, Haddon Hall and Kedleston to name a few. The great thing is that nothing is very far away.

We have lived here for nearly 5 years now and we have tried to make Townhead just what we expect from a B&B. The house oozes with character, but has newly fitted bathrooms with heated floors and modern showers, comfy beds and of course a wonderful AGA cooked breakfast with locally sourced ingredients. There are places for you to sit both inside and out and enjoy soaking up the view.

We have five individually decorated comfortable bedrooms which are all en-suite, with tea and coffee making facilities, digital free view LCD TV and hairdryer.

There is one ground floor room that can either be a king-size double or twin bedded. There are some facilities in this room for disabled guests (please speak to us for details).

Close to the picturesque Derbyshire Dales, Travelodge Alfreton is a great budget-friendly option for accommodation nearby, just a short drive away. The hotel is an excellent base for family days out, nearby restaurants, and exploring the beautiful Peak District. Birchwood Farm Caravan & Camping Site (between Whatstandwell and Cromford)

A warm welcome is offered to visitors old and new by the Smith family. Set in an area of outstanding beauty on the hills above the Derwent Valley on the edge of the Peak District in Derbyshire, this working farm has long been associated with holiday makers since the 1920’s. Situated in a central position for many of the main attractions in the area, we cater for tourers, tents and motor homes. We also have 2 well equipped holiday homes for hire on a weekly basis. Tourers may be sited for the season and winter storage is available. The main Toilet Block has Free showers and also includes a toilet for disabled guests. Laundry facilities are available with washer and dryer which take tokens. There is also a seperate covered dish-washing area with hot water.
